About the Project

FastAF is a platform that partners with retailers to offer speedy, 2-hour deliveries of their products. The app initially launched in Los Angeles and is now available in New York, San Francisco and Miami.

Before their launch, FastAF commissioned our Studio to build a desktop dashboard and a fulfillment app to help them receive, manage, and dispatch orders.

The Challenge

FastAF needed a scalable internal system that could grow with the company. Our Studio worked with their design and engineering teams to build a framework for that system and establish a development process that would increase the execution speed for new features. We created two different products for FastAF:

  • A desktop dashboard where admins could manage orders and inventory

  • A mobile fulfillment application for warehouse employees to receive orders, scan products, and dispatch deliveries

The Process

To provide FastAF with a robust and scalable framework, our Studio:

  • Defined a process. Established an Agile methodology that allowed us to connect and work with multiple teams.

  • Developed the infrastructure. Implemented a scalable infrastructure using the latest front-end technologies.

  • Established a development process. Created a set of best practices, guidelines, and documentation to help developers write high-quality production code.

  • Built a component system. Provided the engineering team with a set of reusable components that would allow them to iterate design changes before integrating them.

The Results

Torii Studio successfully met the deadline for FastAF’s initial launch in Los Angeles. Our framework and component system provided the engineering team with a solid foundation for expanding and building new app features. Since then, we have continued working with the company to add other capabilities, such as managing different shops, collections, and warehouse stock locations.

During our collaboration with FastAF, the company raised $200M in Series A funding to expand to new markets.
